History & Journey
1989/90 – 92
The starting years: the firm establishes its presence in the Greek market, addressing large corporates and SMEs, mainly engaged in strategy and operations improvement projects.
1994
The Cyprus Development Bank (CDB) acquires 25% of Kantor shares, via share capital increase.
1994
The firm starts acquiring international contracts with large Institutional Organisations (EC, WB), expanding its footprint outside Greece, mainly in the energy sector.
1995
Kantor becomes the first Greek consultancy to be certified with ISO-9001. The firm establishes a strategic alliance with Arthur D. Little, the Boston USA based international management consulting company and George Staikos, Senior V.P. with ADL, becomes member of Kantor B.o.D.
Growing within Greece (1996-2001)
1996 – 2001
Kantor creates a strong position in Greece, becoming a leader in the local consulting market, having as its clients more than 50 out of the top-150 Greek and multinational corporates. The firm becomes a strong player in the financial sector, working for all major Banks and a major advisor to the Greek Governments in PPPs and privatisations
1999
EFG Eurobank-Ergasias, one of the 3 largest commercial Banks in Greece, acquires CDB’s shares and becomes a 20% shareholder in Kantor.
Becoming an international firm (2001 - 2014)
2001 – 2008
The firm expanse its international footprint by setting up affiliate companies in six European cities, besides Athens: Brussels, London, Warsaw, Bucharest, Sofia, Thessaloniki.
2008 – 2014
Kantor wins two flagship contracts: the 6-year long and 23€ million contract for setting up and operating the DG AGRI Contact Point for Rural Development in all 28 EU/MS and the 4-years long and 9€million contract for the restructuring of the Support Services and change management in the Hellenic Petroleum S.A.
Focusing on excellence (2014 - 2021)
2014 – 2020
Kantor was faced with multiple challenges: the global financial crisis in 2008, the technical bankruptcy of Greece in 2010, the country political turmoil in the years 2011-2013 and the 2014 – 2019 deepest economic recession in the countries modern history, after World War II, affected severely the firms’ performance.
Kantor rationalized its corporate structure by closing five out its seven offices and affiliate companies, maintaining the Athens and Brussels offices.
With the consultancy market dormant, Kantor managed to win international contracts with large Institutional clients, mainly in the energy and maritime / regional areas.
2021
Kantor is certified with ISO-9001: Quality Management System, ISO-14001: Environmental Management System and ISO-27001: Information Security Management System
2021 and looking forward
The firm repositions itself and continues its journey adjusting to the new market needs and conditions, after the covid pandemic era. The Green Deal and Fit for 55 initiatives, the Digital Transformation and the necessary State Reforms that need to bring the States, the Corporates and the SMEs in a new economically sustainable, socially, just and climate friendly development trajectory, shape Kantor’s strategy for the years to come.
